About Us
Hardly 3% to 6% of all the applicants get to clear the NET/SET examination. Sadly enough, the structure of the course and instructional pattern in our Universities no way prepare the students to crack NET/SET.
Again, for those who could not crack the IIT-JEE after 10+2 for doing Bachelor degree in Engineering in Ills, JAM (Joint Admission Test) has opened an alternative avenue after 10+2+3 to pursue M.Sc. in the coveted IlTs of their dream. The students who are interested to join our institute, have to collect the Admission Kit from our Registered Office at CA-50, (Near CA Island), Salt Lake, Kolkata - 700064.
The completed admission form must be enclosed with fees, two passport size photographs and photocopy of the mark sheet of the examination last passed.
The course fees are to be paid by cash or cheque / demand draft drawn in favour of EDGE payable at Kolkata.
N.B.:- Fees are non refundable, non transferable and non adjustable under any circumstances.

Overview
NET examination is conducted twice every year, one in June and the other in December. The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts joint CSIR-UGC Test for JRF and eligibility for lectureship for candidates having Master’s Degree in science subjects. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts UGC NET for candidates having master’s degree in humanities.The candidates are having the opportunity to apply for both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) & lectureship or for the lectureship only.
NET is basically conducted all over the country. There is another examination which is conducted solely by the individual states and that examination is popularly known as SET (State Eligibility Test). The syllabus is same for NET & SET.
NET/SET Eligibility :
Candidates only who have scored 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in the Master’s Degree Examination are eligible to appear for the examination.
Age Limit :
The upper age limit for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is 28 years for CSIR-UGC Net & 30 years for NTA-UGC Net. There is no upper age limit for lectureship.
Scheme of Exam :
For the students having Master’s Degree in science subjects
The candidates shall have to appear in a single paper of three hours duration which will carry a maximum of 200 marks. The question paper shall be divided in three parts.
*Part A (30 marks) shall be common to all subjects.This part shall be a test containing a maximum of 20 questions of Quantitative Reasoning and Analysis. The candidates shall be required to answer any 15 questions of two marks each. The Total marks allocated to this section shall be 30 out of 200.
*Part B (70 marks) shall contain subject related conventional MCQs.The total marks allocated to this section shall be 70 out of 200.
*Part C shall contain higher value questions that may test the candidates' knowledge of scientific concepts and/or applications of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 100 out of 200. A negative marks for wrong answers, wherever required shall be @25%.
For the students having Master’s Degree in humanities :
The test consists of Two papers.
Paper I : shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks. The questions which will be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
Paper II : shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks which will be based on subject selected by the candidate.
